Terms and Conditions
1.1
Ordinary membership is open to owners and operators of planned, projected and actual rail connections carrying passengers or freight to airports; to bodies responsible for surface transport co-ordination; to airports served by planned, projected or actual links; and to airlines whose customers use such links.
1.2
It is also open to any other body with a direct financial interest in the planning, operation or construction of rail links; or in research into them.
1.3
Associate membership is open to any other body with an interest in public transport links to airports, including academic and professional institutions and industry groups.
1.4
Any member may apply to become a Guaranteeing Member: their liability for the debts of the organisation as a Company Limited by Guarantee shall be limited to £1.
1.5
Decisions on the admissibility of any organisation to any level of membership shall be made by the Board. Membership shall commence with payment of the membership fee in full, and shall end either by formal resignation or by membership fees being unpaid for more than 3 months.
1.6
IARO is not run for profit, but shall be financially self-supporting. All income shall be used solely for the purposes of the organisation. Proper books of account shall be kept in accordance with English accounting standards. Properly audited accounts shall be received for approval by the Board each year; and these shall be available to members for inspection on request. Banking and independent audit shall be arranged as decided from time to time by the Board.
1.7
Fees are payable by members at levels to be determined from time to time by the Board. Levels may vary with type of membership (full or associate) or size of organisation: proof of size may be required.
1.8
On payment, members shall be entitled to the full benefits of membership for the 12 months following receipt of payment, including a membership pack, newsletters issued after the date they join, and any other publications issued in the year. Any discounts negotiated by IARO with third parties shall be available to members from the date of joining.
1.9
Benefits may vary with membership grade or the amount of membership fee paid.
1.10
Refunds of membership subscription will only be made on dissolution of the organisation.
2.
Events
2.1
The registration fee for each event will be publicised, usually in a registration form appended to the event brochure or publicity: this may be made available only in electronic form.
2.2
This fee will be lower - normally by at least 10% - for members of IARO.
2.3
The fee may also vary depending on the time of payment, with discounts being given for early payment and premia charged for late or on-site payment. Arrangements for each event will be publicised in the event publicity material.
2.4
Discounts for group registrations may be negotiated for specific events.
2.5
Conditions for refunds will also be publicised in the event brochure or publicity. Normally, a refund of 50% (less any applicable bank charges) will be made on cancellations received before a specific date (usually 2 - 4 weeks in advance): thereafter no refunds will be made. However substitutions may be made at any time.
2.6
The organisers reserve the right to make amendments to the programme, to change the contents of event brochures or publicity and the speaker list at their discretion.
